Serinity HD resource packs feature some of the best-looking visuals you can find in Minecraft. The high resolutions allow for far more detail than is possible in the standard textures. Then things can be made to look even better with the right shader mod. Some packs, like the Serinity HD resource pack, look great even without the added shader support. This is a modern pack meant to help players make individual buildings or even whole cities that look like something you might find in a big city near you. In that respect, this resource pack delivers everything it promises.
Serinity isn’t a perfect pack though. Some textures, especially the leaves found on trees, don’t look any different at all from normal Minecraft textures. Others actually look a little worse. Wood planks, blocks, half planks and other items made from wood all look more like lego blocks than ever before; bright, colorful and more like plastic than anything wooden you’ve ever seen. If you’re looking for a realistic resource pack, you might want to avoid this one. However, if a general update to the game’s textures which makes Minecraft look tons better overall sounds good, then you’re in the right place.
The Serinity HD resource pack was designed specifically to work with Minecraft 1.8, so it should be fine with the current version of the game as well as all older versions, making it highly compatible with other resource packs and mods in general. It isn’t technically finished yet, but over the last three months the author has made many changes and additions while working towards a completed product. Even if it isn’t finished, Serinity is pretty much a direct upgrade over the textures you get when playing normal Minecraft, so there’s no reason not to give it a try.
